The Estate Agent Edge
It was 2011, we were in a slow recovery of one of the most severe economic downturns in modern history. The collapse of the housing bubble that started in the US after too many home loans were given to people who have a hard time paying back money they borrow.
In the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne cut public spending and raised taxes to lower the deficit. Estate agencies faced fewer property sales, which helped letting agencies but hurt traditional ones. Tighter mortgage rules and economic uncertainty led more people to rent instead of buy.
Around this time, I was a recent graduate with a keen interest in both property and technology, having gained my degree in computer science. I still had a copy of Robert Kiyosaki's book in my library though, and it had already shifted my perception to how the world works.
Drawn to property, I spent a year as a Letting Agent with commission targets being used to incentivise me. However coming from a family that had to work for every penny, you can understand why when I got made an offer I couldn't refuse, I accepted the high paying banking role which would later open doors for me to the world of tech, finance, and automation. With my experience in PropTech and driving growth in scaleups for 7 years, I was then invited to the inaugural A.I. cohort by one of the Founders of Estate's Today knowing I could solve industry problems.
That same year I launched my systems and marketing agency and started getting results for Property Entrepreneurs whilst joining focus groups with Estate Agents UK-wide. We believe every growing independent estate agent with stock and a good sales process can build a repeatable system to grow their customer base so they can provide a more personal touch and delight the community that values them the most.
